Control The Land And Sea As You Dominate With An Iron Fist

With the Napoleon: Total War - Gold Edition game, you have two types of play. There is a strategy map where you manage your lands and your armies. There is also the battle map where you control your soldiers in real time and use old army tactics to defeat your enemy.

Old Fashioned War Tactics In Real Time

The Total War games feature units, equipment and weapons from the Napoleonic era, so expect a mix of gunpowder and horse units in this game. As with most of the Total War games, there are some sea elements involved. The domination of the ocean plays a bigger part in this game. If you dominate the oceans, then you have better access to the weaker areas where your armies will penetrate deeper. The Napoleon: Total War - Gold Edition has better graphics than Rome Total War, but the cross over from strategy map from the battle map seems to cause issues.

Conquer The Land And Sea

All the Total War games have had their issues, especially the impossible-to-play Empire game. It you liked the Total War Rome version of the game, then you may like Napoleon: Total War - Gold Edition because they are very similar, but the game is going to crash on you a lot. If you don't mind having to frequently restart the game, and if you liked the Total War Rome game, then give Napoleon a try.

Lead Napoleon's troops to victory

The Napoleon: Total War demo will take you through the new and playable "War on Land" tutorial as well as the epic land Battle of Ligny, one of the many historical scenarios included in the full version of the game.

  • War on Land tutorial - Set during the Siege of Toulon, you will be given command of the French artillery battery. Aided by Napoleon's most trusted aide, you will learn the art of warfare in the defeat of the British army.
  • Historical scenario - Battle of Ligny - The Battle of Ligny (16th June 1815) effectively determined the outcome of Napoleon's 100 day return to power. Although victory was achieved here, the Prussian General Gebhard Von Blucher was allowed to escape, something which very soon proved to be a fatal mistake. Play as the French or the Prussian faction

Note: This demo is presented in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish languages only. However, the full game contains English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Czech and Polish languages.

PROS

  • You may still auto-resolve fights to help avoid the battle map
  • Plenty of new areas, map features, and units to play with

CONS

  • There is too much micromanaging of armies on the strategy map
  • It still crashes a lot and there are no fixes available
